About Kristina's

From a young age, I yearned to create. I was the child that could not throw away a piece of paper because "I might need it for something later". While I have overcome that particular trait, my love for art, creativity, and expression are very much alive. There is nothing more satisfying to me than creating, and seeing that my hard work has added at least one more piece of beauty to the world. Which, admittedly, was likely the hurdle that I came across when I had to plan a wedding.
The market for bridesmaid dresses was abysmal; traditional dresses were confining and did nothing to complement the women forced to wear them. Furthermore, they lacked any trace of creativity or individualism. I wanted the women who would wear the dresses to feel confident, not insecure. I wanted them to feel beautiful, not worried about their body image. Most importantly, I wanted them to feel that their dress was an extension of themselves; a true and honest portrayal of who they are. After all, who they are is why they were chosen to be bridesmaids in the first place.
You cannot get that in a store.

This is what my business is all about. Through various forms of media and the culture it promotes around us, we are told each and every day how we should look and dress and act, often without even realizing it. I want to encourage women everywhere to break free of that limitation. I will create their visions down to the most minute detail. No matter the occasion, my custom made dresses will be a true form of personal, artistic expression that cannot be duplicated by any factory. Each garment will be a testament to the wearer's individuality, and an inspiration to others who are tired of being limited by the trends pushed on us by big brand names.
My business is not about fashion or dresses; it is about individuality and freedom of expression.

As my market grows, I will hold competitions that encourage people to step out of their regular routines and try new things. From scavenger hunts to food challenges, people will be encouraged to explore activities and places they haven’t before, and hopefully learn some new things about themselves along the way.

I was raised by two very talented seamstresses. My grandmother taught me to sew at a young age (probably before it was safe to let me use a sewing machine unattended, but it all worked out). By the time I was 6, I was making small things; aprons, pillows, simple purses, etc., without the use of patterns. By the time I was 8, I was sewing doll clothes and teddy bears, and at 9 I had graduated to clothing.

My mother was a prodigy with a sewing machine. Throughout high school she made all of her own clothes, pattern-free. At nineteen she made a hoop skirt ball gown that could rival red carpet ensembles - also without a pattern. These are the women that I learned from, and the women who encouraged me to be who I am today. They are the strongest, most hard-working individuals that I know. My grandmother grew up in poverty in a small, rural town on the Missouri River. After high school she moved to Kansas City to work and forge a new path for herself. After my mother was born, she supported the family by working full time for the rest of her life while also giving 24 hour care to my grandfather, who lost his ability to walk after serving in Korea.

My mother had many tribulations in her life as well, and never wavered. She is still hard at work now, building and running a farm, and also raising and caring for her family. My mother's steadfast determination is a trait that she passed on to me as well, and I do not intend to waste it.

I was fortunate to have the upbringing that I did, but many are not. That is why I want to encourage and inspire others to realize their true selves. I want to enable women to present themselves in a fashion that will leave no doubts about who they are, and do so fearlessly. That is the ultimate source of my passion for this business, and I will not fail.
